The PAL 30th Anniversary Design Touring Exhibition is jointly initiated by PAL Design Group and Guanzhu Ceramics, with exclusive planning by Linglu Marketing and support from SUFN Sanfeng Lighting. Presented as an exhibition, it traces PAL Design Group’s three-decade journey of growth, while illuminating the design philosophies and practices of Mr. Liang Jinghua and Mr. He Zongxian along their professional paths. Through the thematic concept “Boundless Creativity,” the show conveys their original aspirations for design, their relentless pursuit of aesthetics, and the evolving significance of their work across different stages. It aims to foster dialogue, exploration, and the sharing of China’s innovative design ethos, thereby advancing the ongoing development of both design and aesthetics.

In this age of fleeting hype, we hope that through the “Boundless Creativity” themed exhibition, we can look back on PAL Design Group’s three-decade journey, hear the stories behind our designs, explore the intimate connection between design and everyday life, and experience the profound resonance deep within.

Over three decades of development, PAL’s journey has not only charted its own path of growth but has also served as a vivid testament to the meteoric rise of China’s design prowess. Throughout this period, PAL’s projects have consistently stood at the forefront of their time, forging a series of iconic spaces through exceptional design philosophies and an unwavering spirit of innovation. These creations have not only shaped the evolution of residential aesthetics in China but have also profoundly influenced how people envision and pursue their ideal living environments.

In the design exhibition section, we have carefully curated a selection of timeless masterpieces created by PAL Design Group over the years, presented through an immersive, multi‑dimensional display enhanced by projection technology. Each piece encapsulates an unwavering pursuit of beauty and a profound understanding of functionality, quietly conveying the spiritual aspirations and humanistic sensibilities that lie beyond the material.

Focusing on PAL Interior Design’s design philosophy and humanistic spirit, this explores the life insights and personal stories that lie behind each project. It delves into the emotions and psychological dimensions that underpin the designs.

This has been a consistent journey of the heart and mind. At that time, Hong Kong’s economy was far from robust. In its early days, PAL faced a harsh market downturn, with a path strewn with thorns and challenges. Yet, turning points often arrive unexpectedly. In 1996, a chance opportunity paved the way for PAL to enter the Chinese mainland market. Drawing on its deep expertise in large‑scale enterprises and its proven track record in managing complex projects, PAL scored an early victory by successfully completing the interior design project for the eight‑story Shanghai Stock Exchange building.
 

This milestone achievement not only underscores PAL’s professional expertise but also lays a solid foundation for its promising prospects in the Chinese market. Subsequently, through a series of unprecedented challenges—ranging from adapting to local business practices and refining project positioning to mastering construction techniques and optimizing material procurement—PAL overcame numerous obstacles and, within just three years, firmly established itself in China, earning widespread recognition and respect across the industry.

From navigating operational challenges to setting industry trends, the journey would not have been possible without a guiding design philosophy. The second exhibition section, “Design Philosophy,” comprises three components: published books, film screenings, and a furniture showcase. This is an in-depth dialogue on design principles and values, as we explore how PAL Design Group has remained committed to innovation over time and how it uses the language of design to convey its unique vision of life and boundless passion.

The published books showcase PAL’s meticulously curated works over the years, which not only document the Design Group’s deep and meticulous engagement in the field of design but also encapsulate the design team’s profound reflections and invaluable practical experience accumulated over many years.
 

A film‑screening area invites you to listen to the designer’s inner voice. Through carefully curated films, the designer’s inner world is brought vividly to life, offering viewers a chance to gain deep insight into their creative philosophy, sources of inspiration, and the emotional journey behind each design.

The furniture exhibition area stands as a quintessential example of the fusion between design philosophy and everyday life. By carefully calibrating color temperature and lighting angles, and skillfully balancing brightness and shadow, it will highlight the intricate details of each exhibit while enhancing the narrative, fostering a free-flowing dialogue between people and the works, bridging the gap between them, and turning every lamp into a storyteller that brings the space to life.

With an extensive international design portfolio and a forward‑thinking design philosophy, Mr. He Zongxian has brought PAL a valuable opportunity to broaden its global outlook and embark on a new chapter.

Two utterly distinct individuals—where, then, do their design inspirations originate? As the most vibrant and dazzling section of this exhibition, we have gathered the sparks of inspiration that have ignited the boundless creativity of these two masters—ranging from the minutely delicate to the profoundly moving—bearing witness to how ideas that once seemed out of reach have been brought to life, and seeking that original purity and resonance at the heart of design.

The Future Pavilion is brimming with PAL Design Group’s boundless visions and aspirations for what lies ahead. Here, we outline our blueprint for the future of design, inviting every visitor to witness and co‑explore the limitless possibilities that await, thereby driving the continued advancement of the design industry.

This 30th-anniversary design tour of PAL will be staged in turn at iconic art venues in four cities—Changsha, Wuhan, Nanjing, and Xi’an. The exhibition is organized into four thematic sections: design showcases, design philosophy, design inspiration, and a vision for the future. Concurrently, through design talks and other formats, it will explore PAL’s evolving design ethos and stylistic evolution across different eras. By evoking emotion and sparking reflection through design, the exhibition aims to inspire and promote a more enriching way of life.

Sanfeng Lighting (Moying Lighting) is committed to building a collaborative learning platform for designers, quietly strengthening its presence within the design community. It has organized initiatives such as the Tsinghua Academy of Arts Study Tour, a European Design Study Trip, Sanfeng’s Third Designer Mountain Climbing Festival, the Nanjing Qingsi Think Tank Comprehensive Design Study Tour, and the IHIDA Suzhou Design Study Tour, among others.
