For designers, all “beauty” serves as a source of inspiration; every sight encountered along the way can translate into creative ideas. Studying abroad is both a way to nourish one’s design practice and the best means of gaining a deeper understanding of the world.
From September 2 to 4, the 2024 Chongqing leg of the IHIDA Design Study Tour—organized by the IHIDA Residential Space Designers Club and co-hosted by Sanfeng Lighting and Luofu Palace Home Furnishings—concluded successfully. Twenty-five designers from across the country gathered for a three-day journey of design exchange.
The first stop on this study tour was Chongqing Zonghao Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd., where Design Director Liu Zengshen engaged in in-depth discussions and interactive exchanges with the designers present, while also sharing real‑world project case studies from Zonghao. He meticulously dissected the design ingenuity behind each project and the practical details of its on‑site implementation.

Teacher Xie Ke believes that “good design is a kind of spatial logic, ultimately rooted in care for people.” Whether it’s “Ji Xia Shan·Meili,” “Ji Xia Shan·Chongqing,” or even the residential project he personally holds dear, design serves as the most straightforward tool; at its core, it points toward a profound concern for people and a return to life itself.
On September 3, a group of designers gathered at the Yiji Life Art Museum, curated by Teacher Xie Ke. The space showcases the culmination of Teacher Xie Ke’s design philosophy and his extensive experience in the field of travel and education. According to Yiji’s team, “Yiji aims to expand the possibilities of product category pairings, infusing every space with vitality. By skillfully arranging and integrating products into diverse environments, we seek to fully highlight each item’s unique qualities.”
Toonheey Home is dedicated to uncovering the sustainable value of contemporary art for modern life, drawing inspiration from both Eastern traditional aesthetics and Western pop culture.
At the final stop of this study tour, the designers visited the Luo Zhongli Art Museum, a sanctuary that brings together masterpieces of painting, sculpture, and photography by exceptional artists from around the world—each work radiating the timeless allure of art. Every piece is a unique visual feast, transporting you to an entirely new realm. With each careful contemplation, deep-seated resonances and reflections are stirred, prompting designers to delve ever more profoundly into life and into themselves.
For many years, SUFN Sanfeng Lighting has maintained close ties with a community of design elites, striving to build a multidimensional platform for empowerment, exchange, and learning—supporting the growth of young designers and the development of sustainable systems. By visiting renowned design studios in cities across the country, showcasing and sharing local design masterpieces, and fostering stronger connections and mutual engagement among urban centers, we broaden designers’ horizons and expand their networks. Looking ahead, Sanfeng will continue to partner with design leaders to forge a brighter future and reach new heights.
